Alain-Raymond van Abbe's Tooth Guard to Cure Nail Biting, aka Body-Focused Repetitive Behavior
Nail biting (chronic onychophagia) is one of the most common symptoms of stress or of obsessive-compulsive disorders known as Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors, especially for teenagers or younger children, and can lead to disfigurement and serious infection, that is already gaining more scientific attention. Alain-Raymond van Abbe , a former Dutch health industry and cosmetics promoter, has opened a nail biting clinic, O-Centrum, in Venlo, Netherlands which devoted to a cure of onychophagy. His $670 treatment relies on a tooth guard molded to fit either the upper or lower teeth. Barely visible, the "preventer" makes it impossible to bite, but can be removed for eating. "In four weeks, nail biting can be over — and over forever," said confidently van Abe. It sounds so great! Once the service available to the place where we are living now, I must buy the tooth guard for my hubby who can't abandon this bad addiction since the childhood.
