Taylor Bradford, University of Memphis Shooting Victim, Is Dead Taylor Bradford, 21, was shot in the chest and pronounced dead a short time later at the Regional Medical Center, on the campus of the University of Memphis around 10:15 p.m., September, 30, 2007.

Taylor, a Junior at the U of M and a Defensive Lineman for the Tigers football team of the university, had apparently walked out of the dormitory where he lived and was in his car when the shooting occurred. Taylor managed to drive away from the crime scene, but crashed his car into a tree a short distance from the campus.

The University of Memphis main campus is closed early this morning.

Police say that the shooting of University of Memphis football player Bradford Taylor was likely targeted. Taylor managed to drive away from the crime scene, but crashed his car into a tree. Police have not yet named a suspect or suspects, but say they believe the gunman likely fled the campus after the slaying.
