When Lori Plato, a woman from Bonners Ferry in Idaho, went to federal court in Coeur d'Alene together with her husband Owen Plato on a civil matter on September 20, she was required to remove her bra by U.S. Marshals Service employees after the underwire supports in her bra set off the alarm.
Lori Plato said the guards wouldn't even let her go into a courthouse bathroom to remove the undergarment, instead they suggested her to change in her car which was parked on a busy street or find a nearby restaurant bathroom.
Lori Plato felt embarrassed and humiliated when her husband held up his coat to shield her from the rest of the people in the courthouse lobby while she removed her bra underneath her shirt. So now all she wants now is an apology and for a change in the security measures.
U.S. Marshal Patrick McDonald acknowledges the incident but says workers used "appropriate security protocols" and that Plato is "inflating" the matter. Link
