Argh!!! The mainland China
has banned all incoming URLs that begin with "feeds," "rss," and "blog" (via). What a "harmonious society " with out wikipedia, flickr, BBC, VOA......!
Unfortunately, Presidet Hu Jintao , the constructor of 'harmonious society' is one of Predators of Press Freedom Speech:
As secretary-general of the ruling Communist Party as well as president, Hu aims to develop a “harmonious society” and combat “hostile elements.” The government’s propaganda department and the secret police, both controlled by hardliners, work to stop the media reporting freely on increasing unrest in the country. In some provinces, journalists’ careers depend on how many articles they write conforming to the notion of a “harmonious society.”
Hu was Communist Party chief in Tibet in the 1980s and was quick to crush dissidents there. Since he became China’s leader in 2002, he has cracked down on human rights activists, cyber-dissidents and independent journalists, who are seen as “hostile elements.” He ordered the arrest of journalists working for foreign media, such as Zhao Yan of the New York Times and Ching Cheong of the Straits Times.
Hu is also a former leader of the national Communist Youth League but this did not stop him ordering a purge of the staff of the newspaper China Youth Daily, which was considered too liberal. Five journalists were dismissed, including the well-known Li Datong.
