Darren Tuck, a 26-year-old Pahrump man, surrendered the infamous videotape showing two young girls being sexually abused to Nye County sheriff’s investigators Sept. 8. He was arrested on charges of promoting child pornography and possession of child pornography, both felonies, and released without bail pending an appearance Nov. 26 in Pahrump Justice Court. The top charge carries a possible sentence of up to life in prison.
Update: Darren Tuck had again surrendered to the police on a probation violation. He been on probation for desertion and failure to pay child support, but his probation was revoked. He was to be formally charged today with possession of child pornography and possibly promoting child pornography. Link

Who is Jessica Lynch? I think that many American readers of RC might have known. From Wikipedia

So she is a POW and an icon of the second Iraqi war! But this post is apparently dealing with her patriotism. When we re-read David Hans Schmidt's suicide news on AP, it was noticed that the man in Tom Cruise wedding photo extortion plot also claimed to have obtained topless shots of Jessica Lynch. Now we found them (but not sure if they are true or fake), at Youknews.blogspot.com.

Carol Anne Gotbaum Dies After Phoenix Airport Arrest
Carol Anne Gotbaum (left), the daughter-in-law of New York city Advocate Betsy Gotbaum (picture below) died in a holding cell at Sky Harbor International Airport following a conflict with gate crews.
Phoenix police said Carol Anne Gotbaum, 45, may have strangled herself while struggling to free herself from the cuffs. Authorities said neither a Taser nor pepper spray was used on Gotbaum.
Carol Anne Gotbaum was arrested at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport after getting into a confrontation with gate crews who refused to allow her to board a plane to Tucson, said Sgt. Andy Hill, a Phoenix police spokesman.
She was rebooked on the next flight, but "she became extremely irate, apparently running up and down the gate area," airline spokesman Derek Hanna said yesterday.
Carol Anne Gotbaum, originally from South Africa, married Betsy Gotbaum's stepson Noah (the son of Betsy's husband, 
Victor Gotbaum, and his former wife, Dr. Sarah Gotbaum) in a ceremony at Central Park's Loeb Boathouse in 1995.
The daughter of a retired commander of the South African Navy Diving School, Carol Anne Gotbaum had a master's of business administration degree from a prestigious Johannesburg university and worked for a time as a senior buyer for a British department store.

Update: Sgt. Andy Hill of the Phoenix police said that Ms. Gotbaum, of Manhattan, was found with a shackle used to connect her handcuffs to a bench stretched across her throat, and said that investigators believed 
she had become entangled while trying to shift her handcuffs from behind her back to the front. Carol Anne Gotbaum was on the way on her way to an alcohol rehabilitation program. Gotbaum family is waiting autopsy in this unusual airport death. NYT
Update:A released surveillance video shows Carol Anne Gotbaum, who by this point had her hands cuffed behind her back, struggling with three officers as she was placed under arrest in the Phoenix airport.

Desperate Condition of Burmese Muslim Exiles in Bangladesh

In total as many as 200,000 have settled in Bangladesh, to escape persecution, over the past 20 years. They have been keenly following events in their home country, hoping that military rule will crumble, and that they can soon restart their lives.
They are unwelcome guests here, so they do not receive any support from the Bangladeshi government.
They get barely enough food to eat from scavenging in the forest, begging, prostitution or doing the most menial of work in the nearest town.
During the rainy season and when cyclones strike the area, everyone suffers.
"When the sun shines, we get burnt. When it rains, we all get wet. There is not even a spare bit of land for us to sit down, and our houses are so cramped," said Toyaba Haq, a mother of seven.
If those Muslim refugees were back in Burma:
"The government is torturing the Muslim community," said Dudu Miah, a health care worker. "It steals our lands to build military camps, it takes our men for forced labour, it refuses us education."
"We need to get permission to marry or even have children," he said.
