Anthony D. Marshall, 83, the son of the American philanthropist and socialite Brooke Astorson, has been charged along with her former lawyer in Manhattan with plundering her estate, which amounted to nearly £100 million.
Phillip Marshall, Mr Marshall’s son, prompted the criminal investigation last year after he accused his father of neglecting Mrs Astor’s care and stealing her money.
Francis Morrissey, a former lawyer to both Mr Marshall and his mother, was indicted on six charges, including forgery and possession of a forged document.
